Asaph’s lament in Psalm 73 is the opposite of Job’s dilemma. For Job the question was, Why do bad things happen to good people? For Asaph it was the other way around: Why do evil people prosper? Where is fairness and justice? Is God not paying attention? Asaph wrestled with this over 3,000 years ago, but it’s still just as pressing today. On his quest for answers, Asaph discovered that he just wasn’t looking far enough.
