“The writing is on the wall” is a common expression representing a portent of inevitable doom, much the same as it did in the original event in Daniel chapter 5. There it foretold the end of the king’s reign and the end of his life. Today it’s generally used in much less dire circumstances, but what can we learn from the original setting and what can we do differently?
