John 17, Acts 22 and Revelation 22 are the only places in the Bible where Jesus calls himself by his given name. He tells his listeners—the disciples, Saul (before he became the apostle Paul) and John the apostle—how he cares for the believers and the church, as an encouragement to anyone who is enduring persecution for their faith.
