Repentance Comes First

I think I can write about 10-15 pages easily on this reading. But, you would hate me for that. So I pick one verse that I notice – Matt. 4:17 – “from that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

I’ve never read this verse carefully, but I find it interesting that Jesus’ first “preaching” is about repenting, not loving, not mercy, etc. To get out our denial about our error, mistakes or our own shortcoming is the first step in following Jesus. Repenting in all things we have done in the past (or ongoing) is the first step. It is hard to do it – because repent is not just “I am sorry for what I did”, but “I am sorry for what I did, and I will turn away from my evil way to your good way”. In other words, you cannot repent and repeat the same sin. Mind you, I do. I don’t know about you, but without intention, without even realizing sometime, I repeat my error and my mistakes. I am so glad that Christ is gracious and merciful and he forgives at every time I repent on my sins.

Now, I am back to the schedule and make a note on my calendar for next Tuesday/Wednesday! If anyone wants to take on either Tuesday or Wednesday email reminder, please send me an email to chat about it. I’ve love to share my opportunity to write with all of you!
