Today’s Reading: Malachi

If I were to have another wedding, I’d ask the preacher to speak on Malachi 2:13-16. “‘I hate divorce,’ says the Lord”. What a strong message to start a marriage! Today, divorce is seen as a normal, healthy, and acceptable practice, even among Christians. How sad to see marriages fail and break up, especially in light of God’s strong feelings against divorce (yes, God still hates divorce!).

Malachi well says that divorce starts in the heart. Whether you’ve been married for 6 months or 60 years, be careful not to be unfaithful! Guard your heart and mind! But really, all sin originates in the heart. Unfaithfulness in marriage and divorce are just two manifestations of sin in the heart. So, whether single or married, guard your heart from sin. Guard it diligently.
