Today’s Reading: Psalm 29; 33; 65-68
The psalmists (writers of the psalms) beautifully express their praise to Yahweh their God. They had good reasons to praise Him! First, they praised Him for who He was and is, the Living God who is faithful to His people. Secondly, they praised Him for what He had done. He had delivered the Israelites from Egypt, blessed them as a nation, given them a land of their own, won victories for them in battle, and so much more!
Oftentimes I find myself praising God for the same vague things (“a good day,” “saving me”) and lacking true joy and emotion. I suspect that you may have the same issue in your life at times. Nevertheless, we have SO MUCH for which to praise Him, even today! Need I even mention the spiritual position and blessings we have as believers in Christ Jesus? Those are reason enough to praise Him! There is so much more for which we could praise Him today; things like family, friends, marriages, homes, jobs, pets, an ample income to supply one’s needs, health insurance, employment benefits, education, safe neighbourhoods, and so on. Let’s get into a of truly praising our Lord from the bottom of our hearts every day!
I encourage you to finish this thought from Psalm 66:17 “Come and hear, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me” with something you praise God for today.
Here is my own: “Come and hear, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me.” He has blessed my wife and I in our first year of marriage, through periods of unemployment, immigration worries, and personal struggles, He has faithfully provided all we have needed. Our God is ever worthy to be praised! Hallelujah!
