Today’s Reading: Isaiah 51:1-54:3

Isaiah 53 is often considered the climax of Isaiah’s message. The innocent, suffering Servant, in willing submission to injustice, is put to death for the sake of others (and afterwards given life again!).

The messages prophesied by Isaiah until today have been a crescendo to this, the highest and loudest note, and those that come after are a decrescendo from it. To those who really listen, the point is clear: the basis for all that Isaiah says before and after this section is found here. The suffering of the Servant is the foundation to the judgment, justification, and Jerusalem to come! We would do well to listen to the words and not just enjoy the music.
