Today’s Reading: Psalm 2; 22; 27
“One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek:” Says Psalm 27:4a. One? Just one? Wow. If I’d written this psalm, I’d have probably said something like, “One of the things I ask from the LORD, the most important request I seek…”
The rest of the sentence would probably be something like “to be like Jesus,” or “to serve Him all my life as a missionary.” But David finished the thought with: “that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life!” (27:4b) He wanted to stay in the very place where God dwelt; in the very presence of the Lord!
If David desired to live in the Lord’s presence that much, it must have been important to him. Today, with His Holy Spirit dwelling in me, and no doubt I will spend eternity with Him in heaven, it ought to be even more important in my life.
