Evil Days

Today’s Reading: 2 Timothy

First of all, BIG, GIGANTIC, 100TH HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISH to UNCLE CARL @ ESCF!

As I read these letters Paul has written, I realize how lucky for people to receive these letters for his encouragement….  “as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers” (1:3) – having Paul as your prayer warrior, wouldn’t you feel a 10 feet tall soldier for Christ?  Recently, I have received such an encouragement email (modern day letter) from a couple who would pray for me and my new venture by God in my office every day!  I cried over that email because it came at the exactly when I needed such encouragement so badly.

“reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and I am persuaded, now lives in you also” (1:6) — another incredible encouragement for all the ladies who work with children, youth & next generation at home, church or work.  Our faith in Christ will transfer to our children, as they see us modeling in our lives — let us keep up!

“… be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus” (2:1) – need I say more?

Finally, “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.  People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, loves of pleasure rather than lovers of God – having a form of godliness but denying its power.  Have nothing to do with them.” (3:1-5)

In light of last Friday’s mass killing of children in Connecticut, US, I can’t help but reading this verses to my heart.  We are living in a terrible times.  If a radio (Rogers) has to remind us to “hug your kids” because you don’t know when would be the next time,  I am deeply troubled in living in this broken world.  At the same time, I am enormously grateful to God who sent Jesus to reconcile us into His family.

At this time of year, especially with such recent incredible tragedy, I once again lean on God 100% to lead us through this broken world and hold onto my family in Christ who continuously fill us with His grace and love to take one more step in His eternal plan in our life.

I appreciate if you could join me and my family in prayer for those families who lost their loved ones on last Friday, for our Lord Jesus Christ, our Comforter and Strength, to be with them throughout this terrible time of their lives.
