Today’s Reading: 2 Chronicles 9:29-31; Ecclesiastes 3:1-17; 11:7-12:8, 12:13-14

If you miss the entire book of Ecclesiastes, this is the conclusion:

“Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.” (Ecc. 12:13-14)

Did you see the same teaching in the last speeches by Moses, Joshua and David? In many cases, “keep his commandments” is easier to understand (but hard to apply), whereas “fear God” is somewhat tough to figure out (at least for me). That’s good because it gives you a reason to listen to Richard Haverkamp on May 20th, 2012 to find out what it means to be “fear God”!
