Burned to the Ground

Today’s Reading: 2 Kings 25:2-4,22; 2 Chronicles 36:17,19-21; Jeremiah 39:2-5,9-18; 40:1-6; 52:9-23,27-30

What must it have been like for the people of Jerusalem to see the Babylonians capture the city and burn down the temple? I imagine it would have been a terrifying sight to see the walls breached, and devastating to see the temple looted and burned to the ground. If the fall of Jerusalem strikes an emotional nerve in me, what should my reaction be to the desecration of God’s temple inside of me?
