Today’s reading: 2 Kings 23:27, 2 Chronicles 35:20-25, Jeremiah 22:10-17; 26:1-24
King Josiah got killed; his sons did evil in the eyes of the Lord.
Jeremiah prophesied for disasters and he got charged for death. But, with some courageous elders and Ahikam, son of Shaphan, Jeremiah was released.
For this week, I actually stood up for freedom of speech with a number of my colleagues. For that, I was told that “Baseless accusations of misconduct and reckless character smears, by someone holding himself out to be an expert, poison the public discourse and debase the legal profession,” Ms. Curic (spokeswoman for the Minister of Immigration) said. “Instead of engaging in knee-jerk outbursts of blind solidarity, these lawyers might consider the long-term damage to their profession of elevating activism above professionalism.”
Sorry to use this forum, but I did really think I reside in a country which holds freedom of expression. To my shock, I am told that my stand is characterized as “knee-jerk outbursts”. If some people do not stand, then the person like Jeremiah, probably did not get released.
So, are you standing for your faith? Are you standing firm for God, like Jeremiah?
Have a great long weekend, everyone.
