Today’s Reading: Isaiah. 54:9-17; 55:1-13; 56:1-12
God made two specific covenants with us in today’s reading: Peace & Love.
“So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again. Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed.”
If you were scared of God so far – like the last six weeks or so, what a promise God has given to us! He would never be angry with us, but give us peace!
“I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David.”
Even if we fail, even if we get angry at God, even if we break our covenant to God, God WILL keep his side of bargain (this is what it means to be a “covenant” relationship – no matter what one side does, the other side will keep his/her side of bargain regardless). What a compassionate & loving God we have.
Finally, one of my life verses is Isaiah 55:8-11:
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
Are you trying to control your life as usual? You will fail, just in case you do not know before. Let go and let God! Are you afraid of letting go because you may fail? You will fail – there you go! You already know the outcome now; so why not let God whose thoughts and ways are higher than ours and whose words will accomplish what He desire at all times?
