The Kingdom of God is mentioned over a hundred times in the Gospels, several times in the book of Acts, and repeatedly in the epistles and the book of Revelation. Why is this so important? As a rough definition, the Kingdom of God is that space where God’s will is fully worked out. In the Gospels it represents a summary of Jesus’ mission and message. In Acts it shows up as a summary of the apostles’ teaching. The Kingdom of God starts with and is defined by the King. It’s Jesus-centred. We need to remember not to focus on kingdom trappings and miss the King.
