Going all the way back to the beginning, to Eve’s experience in the garden, by human reasoning there was no reason not to eat the fruit. It looked good, it looked delicious. But by God’s instruction she must not eat it. The good news of the Gospel makes no sense without an acknowledgement of sin, which leads us to realize that it makes sense for God to be angry at anything that would push us away from the ideal he has for us.
