Today Rob Vandebelt and Oliver Lopez spoke about wisdom from the Book of Proverbs. First Rob taught that biblical wisdom is far more than intelligence or good judgment—it is intentional living rooted in a reverent relationship with God. Proverbs presents wisdom as something deeply desirable, inviting believers to pursue it through humility, teachability, correction, and a willingness to have their character transformed, ultimately leading them to know God more deeply. In the second half of the message, Oliver contrasted wisdom with foolishness, which is not merely making mistakes but persistently rejecting God’s instruction and trusting one’s own understanding. Applying this principle requires discernment rather than rigid rules, especially in knowing when to speak and when to remain silent. Using Jesus’ interactions with Herod and Pilate as examples, the message shows that true wisdom sometimes responds and sometimes stays silent, always seeking God’s glory and the good of others. The ultimate goal is not to win arguments or prove oneself right, but to lovingly point people to Christ, who is the perfect embodiment of wisdom.
