Today’s reading: Jeremiah 17:19-27; 18:1-23; 19:1-15; 20:1-18
God uses two examples with the potter today:
- “… the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him….. can I not do with you as this potter does? Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand”
- “… I will mash this nation and this city just as this potter’s jar is smashed and cannot be repaired.”
God create us, re-shape us and ultimately smash us, if he wishes to do so.
As we experience our challenges in our lives, God is re-shaping us through those challenges. However, ultimately, if you refuse to be re-shaped in the “best” form in accordance with God’s plan, then he would have no choice but smash you and you “cannot be repaired”.
If you are in one of those challenges, praise God because he is still reshaping you!
