You may be familiar with the passage in 2 Corinthians 5: “If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” But what does that look like in practice? If we’re honest with ourselves, we’d probably admit that we apply our faith in bits and pieces, patching up our lives here and there to make ourselves more comfortable, more appealing, more secure. But what Jesus really wants is to replace our life wholesale, make all of it new. Listen to what the parable of the wineskins has to say about how Jesus isn’t asking for a better version of ourselves. He wants to recreate us in the righteousness and holiness of God’s image.
